Terms of Use
Last updated
These Terms of Use ("Terms") cover the Pasture iPhone app and this website, pasture.parra.io (together, "Pasture"), published by Parra ("we", "us"). By downloading or using Pasture you agree to these Terms. If you don't agree, please don't use Pasture.
1. The app license (Apple's standard EULA)
Your license to use the Pasture app is granted under Apple's Licensed Application End User License Agreement (the "Standard EULA"), which applies to Pasture as written. These Terms add to the Standard EULA. If the two conflict about your license to the app, the Standard EULA controls.
2. What Pasture is, and isn't
Pasture is a record-keeping tool for people who keep livestock and poultry. It helps you log animals, feeding, treatments, weights, breeding, production, and sales, and turn those records into a PDF. Pasture is notveterinary, medical, legal, or food-safety advice, and it does not replace your veterinarian, a product's label, or the laws and rules that apply to you. Gestation lengths, care-task templates, and other defaults in the app are general information, not advice for your animals.
3. Withdrawal periods and drug information
Pasture includes a list of common animal health products with default meat and milk withdrawal periods, and it calculates the date a withdrawal period ends from the treatment you log. Please read this section carefully.
- Defaults are reference values only. They are drawn from FDA-approved labels and FARAD, no veterinarian has reviewed them for your animals, and they may be incomplete, out of date, or wrong for your product, formulation, species, class of animal, dose, route, or country. You can and should change them to match your situation.
- Confirm every withdrawal time with your veterinarian and the product label before relying on it. If a product is used in any way its label does not describe (extra-label use), only a veterinarian can set the withdrawal time; in the United States, veterinarians can consult FARAD (the Food Animal Residue Avoidance Databank).
- An end date is an estimate, not a clearance. The date Pasture shows is arithmetic on the treatment date and the withdrawal time entered. It is not a residue test, an inspection, a certification, or a statement that meat, milk, or eggs are safe or legal to sell.
- You are responsible. As the owner or person in charge of the animals, you are solely responsible for determining and observing withdrawal periods, and for complying with all laws and rules on animal drugs, drug residues, and food safety before you sell or use meat, milk, eggs, or other products, or send an animal to slaughter.
- Reminders can fail.Notifications depend on your iPhone's settings and may be late, silenced, or not delivered. Do not rely on a reminder as your only safeguard.
4. Your records and PDFs
Your records belong to you. They are stored on your device, and you are responsible for their accuracy and for keeping your own backups (Pasture can export a backup file). We do not hold a copy of your records and cannot recover them if they are lost.
Lifetime record PDFs and exports show what you entered. Pasture and Parra do not check, verify, or certify them, and they are not official health certificates, registrations, or inspection records. Do not present a PDF as verified by Pasture or by us. Anyone who relies on a record you share should confirm it independently.
5. Pasture Pro: subscriptions, billing, and cancellation
After the setup screens, using Pasture requires Pasture Pro. It is offered through the App Store as:
- an annual auto-renewing subscription (US price $19.99 per year), which includes a 7-day free trial for eligible new subscribers;
- a monthly auto-renewing subscription (US price $4.99 per month);
Prices vary by country and may change. The App Store shows your price, the billing period, and any trial before you confirm a purchase.
- Payment is charged to your Apple Account when you confirm the purchase.
- Free trials are available only to eligible new subscribers, as determined by Apple. A trial converts to a paid subscription at the end of the trial unless you cancel at least 24 hours before it ends. Any unused portion of a free trial is forfeited when you purchase a subscription.
- Subscriptions renew automatically at the end of each period unless auto-renew is turned off at least 24 hours before the end of the current period. Your account is charged for renewal within the 24 hours before the current period ends.
- You can manage or cancel a subscription in your Apple Account settings (on iPhone: Settings, your name, Subscriptions). Apple has instructions for cancelling. Cancelling stops future renewals; you keep access until the end of the period you paid for. Deleting the app does not cancel a subscription.
- Apple handles billing and refunds, and we cannot issue refunds ourselves. You can request a refund from Apple.
- Purchases are tied to your Apple Account. To use them on another device, sign in with the same Apple Account and tap Restore in Pasture.
- If your subscription ends, your records stay on your device, but Pasture asks you to renew or restore a purchase before it opens again.
6. Feedback
If you send us ideas or suggestions, we may use them to improve Pasture without any obligation to you. How we handle what you send is described in our Privacy Policy.
7. Acceptable use
Don't misuse Pasture: for example, don't attempt to gain unauthorized access to our systems, interfere with the website or the feedback service, send spam or abusive messages through the contact form, or use Pasture to break the law.
8. Intellectual property
The Pasture name, logo, app, website, and their content belong to Parraand are protected by intellectual property laws. Apart from the license in Section 1, these Terms don't grant you any rights in them.
9. Third-party services
Pasture relies on services run by others, including Apple (the App Store and purchases), Google (Firebase Crashlytics crash reports), Cloudflare (website hosting), and RevenueHog (feedback). Their own terms apply to their services, and we are not responsible for them.
10. Disclaimer of warranties
PASTURE IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE", WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, WHETHER EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING ANY IMPLIED WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, ACCURACY, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT. We do not warrant that Pasture will be uninterrupted or error-free, that any default, calculation, date, reminder, or PDF will be accurate or complete, or that your data will never be lost.
11. Limitation of liability
TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, PARRA AND ITS OFFICERS, EMPLOYEES, AND AFFILIATES ARE NOT LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, EXEMPLARY, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR FOR ANY LOSS ARISING FROM: (A) DRUG RESIDUES, CONDEMNED OR REJECTED MEAT, MILK, OR EGGS, OR REGULATORY PENALTIES; (B) THE HEALTH, INJURY, OR LOSS OF ANY ANIMAL; (C) INCORRECT, INCOMPLETE, OR OUTDATED DEFAULTS OR CALCULATIONS; (D) FAILED OR LATE REMINDERS; (E) LOST DATA OR LOST SALES; OR (F) ANY DECISION YOU MAKE, OR FAIL TO MAKE, IN RELIANCE ON PASTURE.
Our total liability for any claim relating to Pasture is limited to the greater of the amount you paid for Pasture in the twelve months before the claim, or USD $50. Some jurisdictions do not allow certain exclusions or limitations; in those places, our liability is limited to the maximum extent the law permits, and nothing in these Terms limits rights you have under consumer protection laws that cannot be waived.
12. Indemnification
To the extent permitted by law, you agree to indemnify Parra against claims, losses, and expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising from your use of Pasture, the records you create or share with it, or your breach of these Terms.
13. Ending use
You can stop using Pasture at any time by deleting the app (and cancelling any subscription with Apple). We may stop offering Pasture or suspend access for anyone who breaks these Terms. Sections 3, 4, and 8 through 15 continue to apply afterwards.
14. Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms as Pasture changes. We will post the new version here and update the date at the top. If a change is material, we will also note it in the app or on this site before it takes effect. Continuing to use Pasture after a change means you accept the updated Terms.
15. Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Delaware, United States, without regard to conflict-of-law rules, except where the law of your country of residence requires otherwise.
