The short version

  • Your farm records stay on your iPhone.Pasture has no accounts and no server that stores your animals, treatments, photos, or documents. We can't see them.
  • Two things can leave your iPhone: crash reports, sent to Firebase Crashlytics (a Google service) when the app crashes, and feedback that you choose to send us.
  • No ads, no tracking, no analytics, no selling data. Pasture contains no advertising or analytics SDKs and does not track you across other apps or websites.
  • Apple handles purchases. We never see your payment details.

Who we are

Pasture is an iPhone app and this website (pasture.parra.io), published by Parra ("we", "us"). This policy covers both. To reach us about privacy, use the form on our support page.

Your farm records stay on your device

Everything you enter in Pasture (animals and groups, feeding plans and logs, feed inventory, health treatments and withdrawal dates, weights, breeding, production, shows and sales, care tasks, photos, and documents) is stored in the app on your iPhone. We do not run a server that receives or stores it, so we cannot view, share, or recover it.

  • No iCloud sync. This version of Pasture does not sync your records to iCloud or to any other service.
  • Your own iPhone backups. If you back up your iPhone to iCloud or to a computer, Apple includes Pasture's data in that backup the same way it does for most apps. That backup is governed by your arrangement with Apple, not by us.
  • Files you export.Backup files and lifetime record PDFs go only where you send them (Files, AirDrop, Mail, and so on). We don't receive a copy.
  • Photos and documents. Pasture uses the iOS photo picker, which gives the app only the photos you select, not access to your library. Photos and documents you add are copied into Pasture on your device. If you save a document image to your photo library from the share sheet, iOS asks your permission to add it; that permission lets Pasture add photos, not read your library.
  • Reminders. Withdrawal and care reminders are scheduled on your iPhone as local notifications. Nothing about them is sent to us.

Crash reports (Firebase Crashlytics)

If Pasture crashes, the app sends a crash report to Firebase Crashlytics, a service provided by Google, the next time it has a connection. A report contains technical information about the crash: where in the code it happened, the app version and build, the iPhone model, the iOS version, device state such as free memory and disk space, and a random identifier created for this installation of Pasture so we can count how many installs a crash affects. It does not include your name, email address, farm records, or photos, and the identifier is not your Apple Account or the advertising identifier.

We use crash reports only to find and fix bugs. They are not used for advertising, analytics, or tracking, and they are not linked to your identity. Google keeps Crashlytics data for a limited time (90 days, under Google's current policy) and processes it under the Firebase privacy terms. Pasture does not include Google Analytics for Firebase or any other analytics tool, and it has no setting to turn crash reporting off.

Feedback you send us

You can send us a message with Send feedback in the app, or with the contact form on our support page. Nothing is sent unless you press send.

  • From the app we receive the topic you choose, your message, your email address if you enter one, and these details to help us diagnose problems: the app version and build number, the iOS version, the iPhone model, and your language and region setting. If you include your email address, these details arrive with it and so can be linked to you.
  • From the website form we receive the topic, your message, and your email address if you enter one.

Submissions travel over an encrypted connection to our server at pasture.parra.io, which is hosted on Cloudflare, and are passed to RevenueHog, the tool we use to receive, read, and reply to feedback. We use what you send only to answer you and to improve Pasture. We use your email address only to reply to that message; we never add it to a mailing list, sell it, or share it for marketing. We keep feedback for as long as it is useful for supporting you and improving the app, and we delete it sooner if you ask.

Purchases

Pasture Pro subscriptions are sold and processed by Apple through the App Store. We never receive your name, Apple Account email, or payment details. The app checks whether you have Pasture Pro on your iPhone using Apple's StoreKit. Apple provides us with reports about purchases and subscriptions (for example renewals, cancellations, and the App Store country) that describe transactions, not who you are.

This website

pasture.parra.io sets no cookies and runs no analytics, advertising, or third-party tracking scripts. Its fonts and images are served from our own domain. Our hosting provider, Cloudflare, processes technical information such as your IP address, browser type, and the page requested in order to deliver the site and protect it from abuse, and keeps short-lived logs. When you submit the contact form, we use your IP address only to limit how many messages one connection can send in a minute; we do not store it with your message.

Links to the App Store include a campaign tag, so Apple can tell us, in aggregate, how many App Store visits came from this website.

What we don't do

  • We don't show ads or include advertising SDKs.
  • We don't track you across other companies' apps or websites, and we don't use the advertising identifier.
  • We don't sell or rent personal information, or share it for advertising.
  • We don't require an account, a sign-in, or an email address to use Pasture.

Service providers

We rely on a small number of providers, each only for the purpose described above:

  • Apple: App Store distribution, purchases, and subscriptions.
  • Google (Firebase Crashlytics): crash reports.
  • Cloudflare: hosting for this website and the feedback endpoint.
  • RevenueHog: receiving and managing feedback you send.

These providers may process data in the United States and other countries where they operate.

Children

Pasture is a general-audience record-keeping app and is not directed to children under 13. The app collects no personal information from anyone unless they choose to send feedback. If you believe a child has sent us personal information, contact us through the support page and we will delete it.

Your choices and rights

  • Your farm records are under your control. Delete individual animals in the app, or delete the Pasture app to erase everything it stored on your iPhone.
  • Feedback: ask us to see or delete anything you sent by using the form on our support page. Include the email address you used, or enough of the message for us to find it.
  • Notifications are optional, and you can turn them off at any time in iOS Settings.

Depending on where you live (for example the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom, or California), you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or object to the processing of your personal information, and to complain to a data protection authority. We honor these requests for the limited information we hold (feedback you sent us). Where the GDPR applies, we process crash reports on the basis of our legitimate interest in keeping Pasture working, and feedback on the basis of your request for us to respond.

Security

Records on your iPhone are protected by iOS's built-in data protection when your iPhone has a passcode. Feedback and crash reports are sent over encrypted (HTTPS) connections. No method of storage or transmission is perfectly secure, and keeping your own exported backups safe is up to you.

Changes to this policy

If we change how Pasture handles data (for example, if we add iCloud sync in a future version), we will update this page and the date at the top before the change takes effect.
